Peter was a tireless volunteer for nearly 50 years. In addition to his active role during league play, he contributed thousands of hours directing fund raising activities to provide a better baseball experience for the youth of the Greater Portsmouth area. Peter always faced problems head on. You never had to worry where Peter stood on an issue. It was very obvious. The players always came first with Peter. On many occasions I heard him speak with kids and the question always was "What do you want to do?" Whether it was playing All Stars or some other parent/player issue.
Peter expanded the Portsmouth Babe Ruth League over the years to include several surrounding communities that had no organized youth baseball for 13-18 year olds. Peter was one of the first people who recognized a need for a Prep League and Portsmouth was one of the first leagues in the country to offer this program. Since its inception, Portsmouth Babe Ruth has been able to maintain league numbers between 100 and 150 players even after the closure of Pease Air Force Base that caused a drastic reduction in the area's population.
Prior to his joining Babe Ruth, Peter was a loyal Little League volunteer. For 10 years he served as Player Agent for Portsmouth American LL. He also was a regular umpire working almost every evening from April through July. Each spring, Peter saw approximately 150 players cut from the two Little Leagues in Portsmouth. He founded a third Little League in Portsmouth which allowed an additional 60 children a chance to play organized baseball. In 1973, Peter, along with a friend, founded the first organized Senior League Youth football in Portsmouth, the Portsmouth Shamrocks. He was league president from 1973-1986. On March 1, 1985 at a ceremony at City Hall, Mayor Eileen Foley declared that day to be Peter Grimbilas Day. Peter was honored with a framed document recognizing his many accomplishments with youth sports and a Lifetime Pass to any sporting event held in the City of Portsmouth.

David Drescher
Division: Cal Ripken
Dave began coaching youth baseball in 1960 as an assistant coach in the Nashua South Youth Baseball minor league organization.
In 1973, he moved up to manage the XL Corp major league team.
From 1975 to the present, Dave has managed, coached, worked on field maintenance, concession stand operation which he was instrumental in getting built. He also served as Vice President, Umpire Coordinator, Major League Director and rules interpreter.
Dave's biggest contribution to the children was not just about baseball; he taught them life's lessons. He always stressed that school comes first along with respect for their parents.
Dave has spent over 50 Years as coach, manager and Director in the Nashua South Youth Baseball Program instilling in the youngsters lessons needed to succeed not only in sports but in life. Many of his former players went on to College, a few were drafted by Major League Teams. Many of them still come back to say hello to "Coach Drescher".

In 1950, Lew Basquil was one of ten people, including Sam Harris and Ignace J. Gill. that brought Little League Baseball to Manchester, NH They set up the league with four teams - games were played at the Little League Park (which is now the location of JFK Arena).
In 1952, T. Edward McIntyre and John Hurley from the Manchester, NH Parks and Recreation Department checked into a proposed national youth baseball program that was starting for players who were aged 13-15. They called Lewis Basquil to see if he would be interested in starting the program in Manchester.
Lew was the key person responsible for the founding of the Little Bigger League program in Manchester. It was called the Little Bigger League because it was the next step for the older kids above Little League. It wouldn't become Babe Ruth League until 1954.
Lew organized the 8-team league and invited 480 boys to try out - 361 reported for tryouts to fill 120 roster spots - each team had 5-13's, 5-14's, and 5-15's. Those 8 teams each played a 14-game season that first year in 1952.
Lew would serve as the League President from 1952 to 1961.
Lew also served in the U.S Army during World War II. He landed on Omaha Beach as part of the D-Day Invasion - Normandy. He was awarded the Bronze Star for bravery.
Lew was 92 when he passed away on August 22, 2010.

1972 - President Nashua West Baseball Assoc. 10 Years
Instrumental in the complete renovation of Nashua West Facilities including new Electronic scoreboard, new state of the art field lighting system, new dugouts, a new field irrigation system, Concession Stand including press box and rest rooms.
1982 - Appointed State Commissioner by Babe Ruth Baseball in their new Bambino Division to organize a New Hampshire Division (now known as the Cal Ripken Division of Babe Ruth Baseball). This developed beyond our wildest dreams growing from the mere 3 Leagues in 1982 to the present 54 Leagues and over 21 Thousand Youngsters
1988 - Host President the Babe Ruth Bambino World Series at Holman Stadium. With the help of the City of Nashua, Holman Stadium was reduced to the 60ft Bases and 200ft Outfield required by this Division
1998 - Babe Ruth Baseball (Lefty Gomez) National Volunteer of the year Award
2008 - Elected to the New England Babe Ruth Hall of Fame for 40 years of service to Youth and the development of Cal Ripken Baseball in New England
2012 - April the Mayor of the City of Nashua and the Aldermanic Board Re-names Nashua West Field. The New Name, "The Fred Lajoie Field"
2012 - September Invited to Fenway Park as a guest of The Boston Red Sox. A special day in recognition of the Service to the Youth of New Hampshire.
2014 - July 5th Inducted into the City of Nashua Holman Stadium "Sports Legends" by the Nashua Lions Club.
2014 - July 18th inducted into the Babe Ruth National Hall of Fame
